Build a report from a plain-language brief

Describe the decision you need to make and inspect the report definition before using the result.

Before you beginUse a representative record and confirm you have the permissions required for this area.

Step by step

  1. Open Reports and start a new report.
  2. Describe the question, audience, timeframe and useful grouping.
  3. Review the proposed datasets, filters, calculations and page structure.
  4. Run the report and inspect data-quality or canonical-check warnings.
  5. Refine the definition when the result does not answer the original question.

Good practice

A good brief names the decision, not just the chart type.

If your workspace behaves differently, record the relevant job, client or record number and raise a support ticket so the team can investigate the exact context.
