Connect Xero

Set the accounting boundary, mappings and export behaviour before sending live records.

Best forOwner / Admin
Before you beginUse a representative record and confirm you have the permissions required for this area.

Step by step

  1. Open Settings, then Xero, connect the intended Xero Organization with Secure OAuth 2.0, and select Test Connection.
  2. Set Export As, Invoice Number Source, Invoice Detail Mode and the required invoice line options.
  3. Set Income Account, Cost of Sale Account, Tax on Sales, Tax on Purchase, tracking categories and contact-update behaviour.
  4. Set Supplier Bill Export As. For payroll mappings, open Users and Staff, edit each relevant staff record, and set Xero Employee and Xero Earnings Rate.
  5. In Team Timesheets, approve the controlled entries before using Push to Xero. Send one controlled customer invoice and supplier bill, then reconcile all three results with the finance owner.

Good practice

Xero settings and Team Timesheets are restricted to Owner and Admin roles. Accounts users can reconcile the resulting accounting records but cannot configure this connection unless their role changes.

If your workspace behaves differently, record the relevant job, client or record number and raise a support ticket so the team can investigate the exact context.
